JOYSS

SOLO JAZZ

FRANCE

Jean-Charles aka JoYsS is well known for his multi-artistic experience.

He originally comes from the Hip-hop Culture, where the mission of every dancer is to raise your own style and respect all inspirations without taking off any nature of it.

His purpose is not to dance swing with "modern moves"... He just comes with his own experience, challenges himself and try to level up exactly like the old school dancers did by the time, like if they never stopped dancing until now.

MARIA MALLAN & CLÀUDIA FONTE

LINDY HOP

SPAIN

Swing dancers (Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz), Maria and Clàudia’s work is focused on developing their own context for couple dancing. While having learnt from the classics, from Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz roots, showing admiration and gratitude they also look for expressing their own interpretation and voice always adjusting their individual moves to each other.
Although working on the dynamics from both roles, they believe in initiating the movement from the body as a whole; as one unit. Body awareness is one of the foundations that enables them to develop and work on a continuous and flow of movements, adding rhythmical contrasts.
Their objective is to find different ways to understand movement and rhythm changes in order to apply it to Swing music and give way to playful interpretations. What they believe is that the more open we are to learn and explore, the more freedom we can feel to fill the dance with personal characteristics united with the partner and enjoy the swing songs together.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY NIGHT BAND

ROARING CATS

Roaring Cats are one of Europe’s most promising bands regarding swing and hot jazz. The tiny orchestra, based in Amsterdam, took the challenge of giving value and new significance to the roots of jazz.

Their repertoire consists of original arrangements of the finest tunes by the top artists of the 30’s and 40’s: from Fats Waller to Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington to Jimmie Lunceford. Swell notes for hyperactive swing dancers and for sedentary drinking listeners.
